Midlife crisis solved with red sports car

Have you seen the Monsters Inc trailer, "Mike's New Car"?

Mike's New Car ©Disney Inc.

I am as excited as Mike Wazowski because I've got a new car ... ok, it hasn't got
six wheel drive, but it is

  • bright red
  • turbocharged
  • a cabriolet
... and it's 250 cm long!

New smart FourTwo Passion Cabrio

Paid the deposit yesterday, have insured it today and made the final payment, and I should pick it up on Wednesday evening (the day before my birthday) if all goes well. The Honda Civic 1.6 from work should go back to the garage, and I'll be parking this at the start of my morning cycle ride to work from now on. Yippee!

TMA02

Write this TMA as if you were an impartial consultant to an organisation with which you are familiar, possibly the one used in TMA01. Provide the organisation with a brief report outlining a coherent process (whose development should be facilitated by you) that the organisation might use for the formation of technology strategy.

Within the report:

a) Critically appraise the organisation's present approach to technology strategy formation, considering the organisation's goals and internal and external conditions that it faces. Identify where the process is strong and where it needs to improve (30 marks)

b) Propose a process of technology strategy formation with the necessary improvements. The proposal should include at least:- the intended contributions to the organisation- the overall framework of the process- a justification of those tools and techniques that are important to achieving the improvements that you seek, whether in planning or in strategic conversation. (55 marks)

c) Outline proposals for the ongoing management of technology strategy formation after the end of your consultancy (15 marks)

Word limit: 2500 words

You are free to include supporting diagrams in your answer.
You should include a short description of the organisation as an appendix. Its purpose is only to help the tutor marking the TMA gain an overall understanding of the organisation. It will not carry marks for this TMA, although the lack of it may detract from marks elsewhere if the tutor cannot understand the context. It will not be included in the word count. Feel free to reuse material from the previous TMA for this purpose, having adjusted it to reflect any comments you received on it.
